Terms of Use

The short version: train safely, treat people decently, and the Coach is a tool — not a doctor. The sections in heavier type are the ones that limit what you can claim from us, so read those. Last updated September 11, 2026.

Using Locked In

Locked In is a workout log built around squads — small groups who can see each other's training. By making an account you agree to these terms. You need to be at least 13 years old, or at least 16 if you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, or older where your country requires it; if you're under the age where you can agree to this on your own, a parent or guardian has to agree for you and is responsible for what you do here. We don't knowingly allow accounts for children under 13, and we delete them when we find out. Your licence to use Locked In is personal, limited, revocable and non-commercial — one account per person, for your own training. Keep your account details accurate, keep your login to yourself, tell us if someone else gets in, and understand you're responsible for what happens under your account.

Train at your own risk

Lifting carries real physical risk, up to and including serious injury, permanent disability, and death. Locked In shows you numbers and suggestions based on what you log; it is not a physician, a physical therapist, or a coach standing next to you watching your form. Nothing in the app is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan, and using it doesn't create any kind of professional or clinical relationship between us. By using Locked In you confirm that you're physically able to train, that you've cleared it with a qualified professional if there's any reason to, and that you're not relying on us to tell you whether a lift, a load, or a program is safe for your body today. You're responsible for your own warm-up, form, loading, progression, spotting, equipment, and surroundings. You knowingly accept the risks of training, and to the fullest extent the law allows you release us from claims for injury, illness or loss arising out of your training or anything you did because of something you saw in the app. Stop if something hurts, and get help. Results vary — nothing here is a promise of a specific outcome.

The Locked In Coach

The Coach is an AI feature. It reads the training data you've logged, with your permission, and its replies are generated by a large language model — Claude, from Anthropic — which means your messages and the relevant parts of your log are sent to Anthropic to produce a reply. It can be wrong. It can misread a pattern, invent a detail, or contradict itself, and two people asking the same question may get different answers while two different people may get nearly identical ones. Treat it as a knowledgeable training partner, not an authority — and never as a substitute for medical care. It is not medical, nutritional, psychological, legal or financial advice, and you shouldn't rely on it for any decision that matters to your health or safety without checking with a qualified human. It won't answer medical, injury, or diagnostic questions, and you shouldn't try to make it. Don't use the Coach to produce anything illegal, abusive, deceptive, or harmful, don't try to get around its limits, don't feed it other people's personal information, and don't use it to build a competing model or dataset — your use also has to follow Anthropic's usage policies. As between you and us, the replies you get are yours to use for your own training; we make no claim of ownership over them, and we can't promise they're original or that someone else won't receive something similar. You can report any reply from inside the chat — a person reads those — and you can turn the Coach off at any time in Settings, which permanently deletes what it remembered about you.

About the numbers

A lot of what Locked In shows you is calculated or estimated, not measured: estimated one-rep maxes, volume and intensity summaries, projections, streaks, and heart rate read from Apple Health or a watch. Estimates are estimates. Sensors drift, devices mis-read, data syncs late or not at all, and a projection is a guess about a future that hasn't happened. Don't use anything in the app for a medical purpose, to detect or diagnose a condition, or as the basis for a decision you'd otherwise take to a professional.

What you post

Your workouts, photos, clips, comments and messages stay yours. By posting them you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transcode, resize, crop, caption and display them, and to pass them to the service providers who help us run Locked In — hosting, storage, delivery — strictly so that we can show them to the people you chose: your squads, your followers, and anyone you message. That licence exists to operate the product and for nothing else. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared with other people, backups that age out on their own schedule, and anything we need to keep for legal reasons. You're responsible for having the right to post what you post, including anyone else who appears in a photo or clip.

Moderation, and what we can see

We may review, remove, limit or refuse anything posted here, but we're not obliged to monitor everything and we don't pre-screen. Direct messages and squad chat aren't encrypted end-to-end: they're private from other users, not from the systems that store them, and if a message or a Coach reply is reported we may read it to deal with the report. We may also access content when the law requires it or when someone's safety is at stake. Keep your own copy of anything you'd hate to lose — we back things up, but we don't promise to store or recover your content, and accounts do get deleted, by you or by us.

Zero tolerance for abuse

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior here. Don't post anything harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or illegal; don't impersonate anyone; don't spam. Every workout, profile, message and Coach reply can be reported from inside the app, and you can block anyone. We review reports and will remove content and permanently terminate accounts that break this rule — without warning where the situation calls for it.

Things you can't do

Beyond the abuse rules above: don't scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or use bots or scripts against Locked In; don't reverse-engineer, decompile or try to extract our source code or prompts; don't probe, load-test or interfere with the service or anyone's use of it; don't resell, sublicense, rent or use Locked In to run a business or coach paying clients without our written agreement; don't create accounts in bulk or evade a ban; and don't fake lifts, scripts, or workouts to move a leaderboard, win a challenge, or inflate a streak. We can remove results, reset leaderboards, void challenge entries, and terminate accounts over any of this.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something on Locked In infringes your copyright, email support@wearelockedin.com with: enough detail to identify the work, a link or description precise enough for us to find the material, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised, a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorised to act for them, and your signature — electronic is fine. We'll remove or disable material that's properly reported, tell the person who posted it, and pass along your notice. If your content was removed and you think that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice with the same kinds of detail plus your consent to jurisdiction where required, and we may restore it. We keep count: an account that repeatedly infringes gets terminated. Our designated agent for copyright notices is Trevor Laibl, support@wearelockedin.com.

Subscriptions and billing

The Locked In Coach is an optional auto-renewing subscription: Coach Monthly at $5.99 per month, or Coach Yearly at $39.99 per year, with a one-month free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. It renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel from Settings in the app, or in your Apple ID subscription settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. Prices may vary by region. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Free trials are for new subscribers only — one per Apple ID — and we can withdraw or change trial offers at any time. If we raise the price of a plan you're on, Apple will ask you to agree before the higher price takes effect, and your subscription won't renew at the new price unless you do. We don't process payments and we can't issue refunds; all refund requests go to Apple. If we terminate your account because you broke these terms, you don't get a refund for the rest of the period.

Free and paid features

Logging, squads, plans, streaks, charts and your trophy case are free and stay free. The Coach is the paid layer. If your subscription ends, your log, history and squads are untouched — only the Coach switches off.

Other people's services

Locked In connects to services we don't control — Apple's App Store and subscription billing, Apple Health and Apple Watch, Anthropic for the Coach, plus hosting and analytics providers — and links out to places we don't run. We're not responsible for those services, their availability, their accuracy, or their terms, and your use of them is between you and them. Health data we read from Apple Health is used to show you your training and to power features you turned on, and never for advertising or sold to anyone. We also don't promise Locked In is available or appropriate everywhere; you agree not to use or export it in violation of US export controls or sanctions law.

Ending things

You can delete your account at any time in Settings, and it's immediate and permanent. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms or puts other people at risk. We can also stop offering Locked In, or any part of it, at any time. If we terminate or suspend your account for cause, access ends immediately and any unused subscription time is forfeited unless the law says otherwise. Nothing here obliges us to keep your data after your account is gone.

Ideas you send us

If you send us a suggestion, a feature request, a bug report or any other feedback, you're giving us permission to use it — freely, without payment, credit or confidentiality — to build and run Locked In however we see fit, and you're not giving up any patent or other right you already hold in your own work. Send ideas only if you're fine with that.

What we promise, and what we don't

Locked In is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied — including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement — and we don't promise the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, accurate, free of errors, or that it will meet your goals. Anything you get from Locked In, including from the Coach, is information, not a professional service. We are also not responsible for what other users post, say, or do.

Limits on what we owe you

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, for lost profits, lost data, or lost gains, or for any injury arising out of your training — and our total liability to you for everything combined will not exceed the greater of one hundred US dollars or what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. These limits apply even if we knew the loss was possible and even if a remedy here fails its purpose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — including, in many places, liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protection law — and nothing takes away statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Covering us if you cause a problem

If someone brings a claim against us because of something you did — what you posted, how you used the app, a right of theirs you infringed, or a term here you broke — you'll defend us, cover our losses, and pay the reasonable legal costs involved. We'll tell you promptly if a claim like that comes in, you can run the defence with counsel we're comfortable with, and you won't settle anything that admits fault on our part or costs us money without asking us first. If your local law limits this kind of obligation for consumers, it applies only as far as that law allows.

If we have a dispute

Start by emailing support@wearelockedin.com with a description of the problem and what you want. Most things end there. If we haven't resolved it within 60 days, then you and we agree that any dispute arising out of these terms or your use of Locked In will be resolved by binding individual arbitration before a single arbitrator, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court — and that you and we are each giving up the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. Arbitration is conducted in San Diego County, California, or remotely, or anywhere else we both agree; if your claim is small, it can be decided on documents alone without a hearing. Three things are carved out: either of us can bring a claim in small-claims court if it qualifies; either of us can ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property or a security breach; and any claim for public injunctive relief goes to court, not arbitration. If the class-action waiver in this section is held unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim leaves arbitration and goes to court, and the rest of this section still stands. You can opt out of arbitration entirely by emailing support@wearelockedin.com with the subject line "arbitration opt-out" within 30 days of first accepting these terms — do that and the previous section's courts apply instead, with no effect on anything else here. Any claim must be brought within one year of when it arose, unless your local law gives you longer. If you live in the EU or the UK, this section doesn't apply to you.

Where Locked In is offered

Locked In is operated from the United States and built for people training in the United States. Our support is here, the law we're written against is here, and our hosting is here too — our privacy policy describes it precisely. We don't target the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and we haven't built the consent flows, data-transfer paperwork or local representation that those regions require of a service aimed at their residents. You're welcome to use Locked In from wherever you are, but you do it on your own initiative and you're responsible for whether that's allowed where you live — and we make no promise that Locked In meets the requirements of any country other than the United States. We may limit or withdraw availability in any territory, at any time. Nothing in this section takes away a right your local consumer law gives you and doesn't let us sign away.

Which law applies, and where

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Except for disputes that go to arbitration under the next section, any claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you and we both consent to those courts. If you live in the EU or the UK, nothing here takes away the protections of your local consumer law, and you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

Apple

You downloaded Locked In from Apple's App Store, so a few things need saying. This agreement is between you and Trevor Laibl only — not Apple — and Apple is not responsible for Locked In or its contents. Your licence to use the app is a non-transferable licence to run it on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules, including Family Sharing. We're solely responsible for support and maintenance; Apple has no obligation to provide either, and you shouldn't contact them for it. We're also solely responsible for any product-liability claim, any claim that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, any claim under consumer or privacy law, and any claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property — Apple is not. If the app fails to conform to any warranty we've given, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent the law allows, that's Apple's only obligation, and every other claim goes to us. You have to follow any third-party terms that apply while using Locked In — including Apple's App Store terms and, where relevant, your wireless carrier's. You confirm you're not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you're not on any US Government restricted-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Questions, complaints or claims about Locked In go to Trevor Laibl, support@wearelockedin.com.

The fine print that has to exist

If a part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, that part is trimmed to the smallest change that makes it work — or dropped — and the rest stays in force. These terms, plus our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about Locked In, and they replace anything said earlier. We can transfer this agreement to someone else — for example if the app is acquired — and you can't transfer yours without our written agreement. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given it up. We're not liable for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control: outages at providers we depend on, network or platform failures, natural disasters, war, labour disputes, or government action. We send notices to the email on your account or post them in the app, and both count as writing; you reach us at support@wearelockedin.com. Nothing here makes either of us the other's employee, agent or partner. The sections on training risk, what we promise, limits on liability, covering us, copyright complaints, disputes, governing law, and this one survive the end of your account or this agreement.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes or the law does. The date at the top tells you when they last changed. If a change is material we'll say so in the app or email you before it takes effect, and we'll give you a reasonable window to read it. Keep using Locked In after that and you've accepted the new version; if you'd rather not, delete your account. Changes never apply retroactively to a dispute that already exists, and if you reject a change to the disputes section you can use the opt-out described there.

For California users

Under California Civil Code section 1789.3, California users may report a complaint to the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs by mail at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by phone at (800) 952-5210.
